January Card Recap

As I mentioned in this post, one of the things I wanted to do this year was to send some birthday cards. I love getting things in the mail, I'm guessing most other people do (okay, not junk mail, but real mail)!
So, I've been making cards! And it's actually been pretty fun. Okay, it's been a lot of fun.

I also thought I would share here.
One, because I'm quite proud of them.
But also because maybe you will be inspired to do some making of your own - they're all made quite simply, but with lots of colors. The main things I've used are watercolor, colored pencils, and stamps.
I've got plans to do one of these posts at the end of each month, though there will be a few quiet months (simply because I don't know enough people to be sending cards to all year long!). But, the way the birthday schedules work out, everything will be sent out and received by the time these posts go up, so no spoiled surprises!

On to the cards!

Yes, with the watercolor, they aren't exactly flat. And they do tend to get a little messy - both on the backs, as well as the inside on the top part - but that's the price you pay, I suppose, for flinging color and water everywhere.
Also, any excuse to stamp and color in little hedgehogs? Yeah, I'm all over that!

Though like I said earlier, nothing very complicated, just stamps and coloring!

And while I'm waiting to post them here until the appropriate times, and I'm not sending them out until the right times, I am getting ahead of myself in actually making them - these three have been done for most of the month! Everything for February and March is sorted as well.
Making the cards early means I can actually make sure and do something that I want to do for them, versus my normal route of waiting until the last minute to get anything done! I have the upcoming cards to send out addressed and stamped, on my desk, as well as a note in my planner a few days out from the actual birthdays to be able to remember to send them out. Wins all around!

Do you send out birthday cards? Do you need reminders to actually send them out, too?

  2. I LOVE sending Christmas cards every year, and last year I decided I wanted to keep that feeling going so I sent out cards at Valentines Day and Easter. I wanted to craft cards but with my busy university schedule I just didn't have time. So I bought 50-cent cards at the dollar store and ordered cute matching stamps. I got so many calls and emails from people thanking me for the cards. Everyone really loved receiving them, and when I have more time and money (a job after graduation hopefully!) I would love to send birthday cards as well. I just love your watercolors, you can always send me one if you need more people to send cards to! ;)

    1. Glad you were able to find a way to send out cards while having such a busy schedule! :D I somehow managed to have a stockpile of postage stamps, so even after sending out Christmas cards last year, going through all of the birthday cards for this year, I'll *still* be able to send Christmas cards at the end of this year and have even a few stamps leftover, ha. Not sure how that happened, but I'm quite glad it did!
Thank you so much, I'm glad you like the watercolors - I've had fun doing it!
And if you are interested in getting a card, drop me an email ;)
Thanks so much for stopping by! :D
