And then we did taxes, and apparently going to "college" for a month and a half counts, so far as the IRS is concerned. So, I got something new, and the Mister is waiting for a new video card to come out, and then we will be done.
Allegedly.
Either way, I couldn't help myself.
I really couldn't. Especially since, you know, I spend so much time on YouTube watching Midori videos. It's an illness of some kind, I'm sure.
I ordered a Narrow Gemini in Orange. I'm a bit disappointed, actually, that the orange isn't brighter. But, then again, it's leather. It shouldn't be in bright colors - still trying to convince myself of that. I do like the varieties in the coloration, but the Mister made a comment that it reminded him of a basketball, and I'm just...well, it's orange but not ORANGE. Oh well. I do love it, I promise!
I have three notebooks in it, and a folder that I made.
The notebooks are two actual Midori inserts, and the third is the one that came with my Happiedori.
And yes, they are all decorated in some way or another, because just plain kraft paper is not attractive.
The pen loop is one I picked up for 50 cents at Staples...which is just too small to hold my (second) Coleto well, sadly, so I have to do the pen loop trick (again). And since I'm not sure exactly where to put it (as my folder will die sooner than later, or I would stick it there), I just washi-taped it into the notebook. So far, it's holding well!
This first notebook is actually a fully fledged playing notebook. I've got notes for Pokemon (to keep track of what I need to do, as the players guide is actually quite bulky) and what I need to catch still, places to come back to, etc; notes for other games (like Skylanders!) and just whatever fun things I want.
I am indexing just about everything, because I'm a weirdo like that and have fallen in love with indexing thanks to my Happiedori.
I've also taped the actual Midori insert labels to the back cover of the notebooks. That way there is no worries about remembering which notebooks I have as some of the names are funny - now I have the number of the insert as well, just in case!
The second notebook is a journal of sorts. I wasn't sure what to do with it, so I decorated it...and then left it. Petted the paper (it's a lightweight paper insert, and the paper is divine, though it is lacking lines or grids). Then I figured what the heck, just write in it, darnit. So, it's a journal.
The little monster is actually a stamp that I added to the journal card, and the rest of the set is adorable, as it has a few different monsters in it - but is, sadly, already retired.
And my folder. Out of cardstock and duct tape.
It's not going to last long. I promise. But, it will do for now. Also, it's on the elastic that has the tie on it, so it sits funny. I have taken it out and added it back in a few times already, and will probably continue to do so for a while (read: until it dies).
The lined/ruled card is actually a download from My Life All In One Place, and I've used it a few times, but I'm actually not too bad at writing in a straight line (for now) so I don't use it much.
The last notebook I decorated following the "instructions" from this video, but it didn't work out too well for me. My glue stick is junk, and the paper didn't want to stick, and so I had to washi the edges all around, only to end up with bubbles in the paper and...*sigh*...it's just a mess. I will stick to washi and bits-and-bobs, and less full coverage decorations from now on.
It holds my blog planning, as it stands right now. That could change though. I'm not exactly sure what to do about blog planning yet, so all I have is a list of posts I want to make soon.
And of course, a photo showing just how awesome the texture of this thing is. I love to touch it. It's a bit dry feeling, but the ridges are fantastic. It's got some weight to it, but not too much - I've had it in my purse already with absolutely no problems.
I am worried about it getting water marks on it (as I "suffer" from sweaty palms 85% of the time and I'm not sure if that would transfer onto it much - probably will) but there isn't anything I can do to avoid that.
I am having such fun with this book, though. It was a bit spendy, and I do not understand how people can have so many of them. While I feel the price is quite reasonable for the work that goes into them, the price is just too high for my budget for more than one!
I am without a name for it, though.
It needs a name. I haven't been able to come up with one for it yet, and I feel bad about it!
Any suggestions?
~Havok
P.S. The Mister also said, after I received it and handed it over for him to see, that it made him feel like a wizard with a spell book, so that's a plus!
P.P.S. If you are interested, there is a little box to follow by email. New posts also get sent out to Facebook and Twitter. Whichever route you prefer to follow along - please, don't be shy! ;)
Your new posts didn't show up on Feedly and I think I have to change the rss link because of the move.
ReplyDeleteYour Chic Sparrow looks great! Love the setup too. I wouldn't worry too much about sweaty palms because it will probably look nicer the more "aged" it gets? I guess folks like getting a few in different colours similar to how they like to collect Filofaxes :-)
Oops :( The feed settings aren't off but it doesn't look like I have any control over RSS other than that, really. I do know that I've always had problems with Feedly and my blog though (I've checked a few times that the RSS is working, and always have a hard time finding it).
DeleteAnd thank you very much! I think, though, with the sweaty palms bit there will just be one large dark mark at the center of the spine - I'm worried about the splotchiness of it! Ha!
I understand it being similar to Filofaxes, actually. Didn't think of it like that. And, so far as the US Filofax store is concerned, about the same prices too. ...which is why I only have one!
Thanks so much for stopping by! :D
It looks great! I have been looking at all those sites too, but can't justify one this year. I am still just using my Filofax flex folders with my Hobonichi. I have had to resubscribe with your blog - I noticed I hadn't seen anything from you for a while and wondered if you were ok so came direct to your site and found it all shiny and new....
ReplyDeleteIt's one of those things...it's totally worth it, but it something that has to be talked into. At least for me! There are plenty of cheaper options out there, though - I've seen quite a few pretty fabric ones popping up on Instagram (I only worry about how well they would hold up...I've already seen a photo of one starting to fray, and that would worry me about them!).
DeleteSo sorry about the confusion! I had tried to make the move as seamless as possible, but as I switched platforms, the email subscription wasn't something that could be transferred over! I do appreciate you coming over and checking up, though! :D
