It started a few days ago, and I don't even know what it was, but I ended up deciding it was time to play with makeup again.
Which, if you knew me in person, you would know that's something I don't really do often. It comes and goes, and it normally is in it's "goes" phase more than it's "comes" phase.
But right now?
I'm all about that wing eyeliner.
Except I'm horrible at it. But I've tried! And I (basically) understand how it works.
I bought nail polish. In a lovely mint color and a super bright pink.
I bought mint sneakers (which are adorable).
I bought makeup brushes.
Except, really, it's fine. The shoes were 7$ at Walmart, and the brushes are ELF brand, so the most expensive one was 3$ and I only got three of them. The nail polish was from Dollar Tree.
However.
I also bought tweezers.
And started the process of doing my eye brows.
I have always said that doing my eye brows is pointless - mine are so light, and so uneven, yet totally out of hand, and that it would be too much effort.
But, I bought tweezers, and went to town.
Of course, first outlining where I wanted to sculpt. But without a white pencil, as I don't have one. Instead, I used eyeliner. Then decided to fill them in, cuz why not - I wasn't going anywhere, and eyeliner mostly washes off just fine.
...you'll have a laugh, you really will...
The problem is that it's actually not bad. Considering my brows are normally, well, the color of my hair, and therefore mostly invisible, it certainly adds something, and of course the color is wrong (cuz eye shadow, not eye brow color), but it was a weird moment for me.
Which I also wore the rest of the evening.
I even emailed my mom a photo (hi, mom!) saying that I was actually quite pleased, in a way.
As was when I decided I wanted bangs.
Now, I go back and forth with my hair. Sometimes I want it long, sometimes short. Most of the time if I get a hair cut, it's cutting off multiple inches of hair. And by "multiple" I mean upwards of at least 6 or so.
And any time I randomly decide "I want to cut my hair", it tends to be disastrous. I don't think it through, I don't remember what my hair actually does, and I've had some weird hair cuts before.
I've even done it myself before, and oh boy, was that "fun."
Well, it was, but certainly not in a good way - it ended up being a lot shorter than I wanted, simply because I couldn't get it even behind my head!
But, bangs.
I hate bangs. They always curl funny, as my hair is naturally wavy towards the ends, and so they never match and it's just messy.
I did it anyway.
And then fixed it, after watching Rhomany's latest video, which is about her wigs actually. So, I copied that style, and well, you'll have another laugh.
...also, see about the eyebrows without the extra color.
But you see what I mean.
It certainly didn't turn out right, and this is why I don't do bangs.
I don't hate it, but I don't love it, either. I'll get used to it, and they'll grow out soon enough, and then I'll probably like them more, but why do I do this?
Who knows.
Either way, these things are rare. And they're always random. And they tend to, well, have longer lasting effects.
Nail polish comes off. Crazy eyebrows come off.Hair takes longer to grow back. Or for a color change to fade.
Somebody stop me before I either have no hair, or what I do have is dark purple. Because Pinterest has been tempting me on both accounts.

You look great, sweetie! Don't worry about experimenting, after all... hair will grow out. I used to have nearly waist length hair and for many years very long hair but I got sick of it one day and hacked it all off! I am much happier with my pixie do now. And the beauty stuff? That's just the beginning, my dear!
ReplyDeleteI do believe it's just the beginning, that's what scares me, ha! But, it's colorful, and that's a lot of the allure!
DeleteI entirely agree, though, hair grows back. I've chopped my hair multiple times, and it always comes back. I've dyed it, and it always comes out one way or another, and I've even resorted to color-correcting stuff before (which actually worked remarkably well for 10$!).
Thank you for the reassurance! For today, as it stands, nothing has been done, but I did end up with coral lipstick (which is fabulous, ha!).
You look pretty--the bangs are so cute! And just as Lyn said ^^ don't worry about experimenting! Hair will always grow back, and a new look is never a bad thing :)
ReplyDeleteBut-- you brave soul, you! I'm wayyy too scared of doing ANYTHING to my eyebrows, and as for my hair--let's just say that I go through a continous cycle of letting it grow out long, and cutting it short once it reaches, like, my waist. I know, I'm so boring ;) Maybe I should get layers or something, ha!
And purple sounds rad. You should get purple highlights! xx
Thank you so much! :)
DeleteI agree about a new look never being bad - that's kind of my problem, though!
Eyebrows grow back, too, just like normal hair ;) I'm lucky, though, that mine are so light that even if I did screw them up, it wouldn't be that noticeable!
Layers are fantastic, so long as you don't go to, say, Great Clips or something. Every time I've went in for the 10$ hair cuts at those kinds of places I only end up with a top layer and a bottom layer - and that's never what I want! My last hair cut was at a real salon and oh it came out wonderfully! I dunno about the purple highlights, though...it would have to be an all or nothing kind of color, I think!
Thanks so much for stopping by! :)
