And, that means, time to start decorating!
Or, if you're like me, you got excited about decorations two weeks ago, got them on sale at Michael's, and have been fully decorated since the 14th of November. I figured, though, that waiting until after Thanksgiving to really say that I was decorated was appropriate.
I know there are people, like my mom, who say that you can't decorate until after Thanksgiving, and that you can't get a tree until maybe the first weekend of December, but I'm not that kind of girl! I don't have many decorations for Christmas, and I want to enjoy what I do have as much as I can, while it's appropriate to do so!
I also don't understand how some people can turn their whole house into a winter wonderland for a month out of the year. And then have somewhere to keep everything until next Christmas! I just don't have the space for that! So, we have a small area of our house decorated, and until we move, that's as good as it is going to get.
And so, without further adieu, my Christmas kitchen bar - please excuse my messy kitchen!
Our wall of geekery, if you will, with the addition of the best stocking ever (which, oddly enough, we found at KMart).
Isn't it fantastic! We are Star Wars people. We want to get new wedding bands, actually, and what I really want are matching silver bands, in which mine will say "I love you", and his will say "I know". We are that kind of people.
I couldn't not get this little guy. I'm a bit sad at how flimsy he is, but seeing as he is made out of a foam/felt combination-fabric-thing-consistency, I didn't feel comfortable putting him anywhere other than the wall - at least he can't get messed up there, right?
Our sad little Charlie Brown tree. We've had it for three Christmases now, but I don't think it came out last year. The lights it came with are terribly small, and I'm obviously not a good tree decorator! But it suits me in a way - everything, everywhere. The two ornaments (towards the top, attached to the green ribbon) are snowman ice-skaters, with our names on them. They're the only real ornaments we have, so it works out that our tree is super small!
These giant "ornaments" are fantastic! They're bright, shiny, covered in glitter, and in happy colors (not the usual red and green Christmas fare). The ribbon is something I added, to be able to hang them from the ceiling, which has glitter polka dots of the same colors as the ornaments themselves.
Battery-operated tea light candles I've had for a few years, and a jar that we had about the house filled with the same ribbon to hold up the ornaments. Messy, yet satisfying!
And this little guy that I found in a thrift shop years ago, with reindeer ribbon (that the Mister tied about his neck, as I am terrible at making bows).
And a less-shiny version of everything put together.
Oh, and yes, the Darth Vader lamp did have to stay, as he is just fantastic.
Have you started decorating for Christmas yet? What is your Christmas style like? I'd love to know - as I know I am going to need help next year!

Your decorations look great! It's kinda like disco Christmas. And that Star Wars Santa sock is awesome :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm not the best at decorating to be honest, but it was fun and I love it! That's what counts, right? ;)
