Time Mangement Week - In Review

This has been a crazy ride.
At first thought, posting everyday would be a horrendous undertaking. At second thought, it wouldn't be that bad. At third thought, it was "oh no, wait, what am I going to say for a week straight?"

But, here we are.

From Monday, we discussed my planner pages with a built-in bullet journal. Things are getting done (because it's fun to have so many colored hearts on my pages). I'm making sure to write down all the tasks I need to get done for that day well in advance, and adding more as time progresses. As it stands, I've got my days fairly planned out until the 3rd of December!
With these pages, I know what I need to clean, if there's a post to make that day or not, where I need to go, and what ever other tasks need to be under control.

Tuesday was all about being lazy and procrastinating. And that, sadly, is a habit hard to break. I have noticed, though, the longer I stay at my desk during the day, the more I get done! And, of course, checking my planner often to keep me on track.

Which ties in with Wednesday's message about following a schedule. Having yourself set up in a way that pushes you towards what you need to get done is important! It's much easier to do the tasks, when you know that x-task is after z-task, and that's just how it is.

And Thursday was all about how it really is as simple as just doing what it is you need to get done! Sounds simple, but as I explained, for me it is not always that way (and I have a feeling I'm not the only one!).

All in all, it's good to get this off my chest, so to speak.

I'm trying to set myself up on the path to "success".
It's easy to say "oh, I'll get to x when y happens". But in reality-land (where we actually live), that's a horrible excuse!

Make a plan.
Set yourself in a way that allows you to accomplish that plan.
Keep reminding yourself of the plan.
And get to it.
Adjust as needed, realize that nothing always goes the way you wish, but that shouldn't stop you from going for it.
Keep trying, and keep working, and keep ensuring that your daily tasks are manageable, and you have all the pieces necessary to accomplish them.

Not earth-shattering, but it still hasn't quite all sunk in for me (and I've been reading this kind of stuff for years).
The biggest help for me? The planning step, so my days don't get away from me as easily, by not knowing what it was I ought to be doing with my time. And the realizing that things aren't always going to lead you to success. And that it's OKAY.

I'm off to finish the rest of my to-do list. How about you?

  1. Thank you, I have enjoyed reading your posts this week. And hopefully some of it has sunk in! I have not done everything from my list, but I am a lot further along than usual.......

  2. Thanks so much!
I'm hoping it's stuck as well, ha!
I'm not quite done with mine either (and have been putting off working on Christmas presents all week - need to get to it, ha), but slowly getting there!

  3. These are excellent tips! I definitely think having a well planned day and um, "execution" is important to feeling more productive. I try to be realistic though and don't squeeze in all and sundry in a day. This is another reason why using a planner appealed to me. When I was working, my days were pretty filled from morning to night and I had my electronics to keep me on track. But now that I'm not, I still wanted my time to be structured, so that's when all the planning on paper helps since I'm not in front of the computer all the time at home.

  4. Execution is super important! Follow through always as best as you can!
Being realistic is important as well, so I normally only add one or two extra tasks (if any) on top of what absolutely needs to get done that day (and that I know I am capable of accomplishing).
