We do Christmas differently at our house. It involves choosing exactly what you wish to receive, and opening it as soon as it arrives. No waiting, no wrapping, no shaking of boxes.
Because of this, Christmas here is has been done for at least two weeks. And, to be honest, I got my main present ordered the weekend of Thanksgiving, and it arrived on the 9th of December - and, of course, got to open and play with it that day!
And I've fallen in love with it!
I asked the Mister ever so nicely for a personal-sized planner, to which he said yes, and that I also must choose which one it is I wanted.
I hemmed and hawwed and didn't know, but of course I knew, it would be a Finsbury or a Malden. And, the Finsbury won out. In Electric Blue, no less!
If you follow me on Instagram (shameless plug), you will have seen plenty of Mr. Finsbury popping in and out (and yes, I've named my planner, and it is a boy - it seemed the right thing to do!).
But if you do not, I figured I would share some pictures here, as well as go into some detail as to what exactly Mr. Finsbury is all about.
This is what he looks like right out of the box:
The color here shows more blue than it does in person (on my desk, it hardly has any blue, and in the sun it hardly has any blue, but somehow my camera managed to pick it up!). For me at home, it really is quite purple, which is not exactly what I expected, but I like purple more than blue anyway!
Out of the box, he does not lie flat - I am disappointed in that fact, but it will be alright in time. The card slots on the left inside flap also did not hold cards out of the box - I have a few membership cards in there right now to train those to hold things. The big pocket on the left side is also difficult to use, as it is quite stiff still.
The back right zip pocket is too tight as well, and difficult to get into if you have a pen in the pen loop.
So it's a good thing I wasn't interested in the pockets! I'm working with them though, and trying to put things in them or open them as I can, to try and relax the leather a bit.
But, I'm working with him and filling him up...figuring out what works best where, and what I really need to have with me at all times (because, you know, Mr. Finsbury is going to go everywhere I do!).
Here are some pictures of him a bit more decorated. I would like to do a "tour" so to speak, but haven't decided how best to go about that.
And, of course, I still need to share all the inserts I've got, but that will be for another day - but I do promise that I will be sharing them! I may be biased, but I am in love with the day on 1 page insert I created for him!
I absolutely adore Mr. Finsbury. I open him up sometimes just to look around and play. It has helped me stay on top of my to-dos, being in my planner so often. He's got a bit of weight to him, but not much, and I love that.
Of course, I would fall in love with a Malden if one miraculously showed up at my doorstep, but since there's no chance of that happening, I feel safe in saying Mr. Finsbury will be my companion for quite some time.
I feel I can safely say, though, that I am the most organized that I have ever been in my life, so far as paper planning and notes and ideas and all that nonsense. I know where everything is, without even having to look for it! It feels fabulous!
What is your favorite planner? Do you switch out at the beginning of a new year?

That is a beautiful planner, I love the colour. I found the card slots very stiff at first in my slimline Finsbury, but as I used them more they have got more pliable. A very civilised way of doing Christmas gifts!
ReplyDeleteGood to know that the pockets will soften up! I'm a huge fan of the color as well, its just amazing.
ReplyDeleteAnd so far as Christmas gifts go, it just works out better. Granted, there are no surprises, but this way we both get things we really want or need and no fuss about it.
Thanks for stopping by - I love and appreciate all of your comments!!/
That's a lovely planner! And the blue is so beautiful. I'm not a big fan of the Finsbury due to the stiff leather but I've read that it does soften over time. I think it will get more pliable with some training and more use.
ReplyDeleteSlowly, he is starting to open a bit more, but I'm so impatient, ha! I don't think he will ever lie flat, but I'm alright with that - takes up less room on my tiny desk if he isn't flat all the time!
