1 Month Checkup
I'm going to be honest: I have been slacking for most of the month. And I know this, because I've been using my goal worksheets. They're kept in the second divider in Mr. Finsbury, and as I have a habit tracker sheet filled out, I have to be in that section often, so it is just that much easier to glance over the rest of my goals.
I think that was necessary for me - to make things easy to check on and glance over. I know if they were hidden away somewhere, I would be able to "forget" them. Which, of course, means to actually remember them, only to tell myself there's plenty of time, and then come to the end of the year having nothing accomplished.
So far as my January-specific plans went...I got halfway done.
Some of the things I wanted to work on, like taking photos during the Mister's vacation just didn't really pan out. He was sickly, and we didn't do anything. So there are pictures he took of putting computer bits together, and that's about it. I could take pictures of us sitting at our computers, but what fun would that be?
And I had some decluttering goals that I wanted to work on. A table in the living room and the printer stand were supposed to get cleared off. Well, they're half cleared off!
The great thing about doing this "maintenance" is that I am able to see what's really important for me to accomplish.
I wrote a lot of things to be doing for 2015. Some of them were more important than others, and some of their priorities have already shifted - and that's okay!
I wrote, as a goal for the year, to crochet more. It's just something I want to spend more of my time on. I've already been doing that, just because I know it's something I want to be doing. But underneath that, I wrote to have better handwriting. Which, would be nice, but I'm not going to spend my hours practicing my cursive or anything like that - if it happens, awesome. I know I will be spending a lot of time writing, and hopefully having to write small so often will help me improve, but I'm not going to spend time on it.
On the opposite side of that coin, I made a goal to work on Project Life regularly. I haven't touched it this month. Because there are no new pictures to use. Which is fine. I know that we are not take-pictures-of-our-lives-everyday kind of people. While I love the weekly pages I see about the internet and on Instagram, I know it's not for us. Not at this point in our lives, anyway.
And so far as the decluttering goes, larger projects came in and shifted my priorities entirely, which I have, in turn, shifted my attention to.
But this is why I'm taking stock of my progress. It's like doing a double-take over your grocery list before you head to the check out, or checking your pocket for the car keys before you lock the door. The only way to make sure you're doing something (or not doing something!) is to check.
If you weren't planning on doing a checkup on your goals for the year, why not?
And if you are doing one, how are you coming along?
