Less Notes, More Tasks

So, I had a brilliant idea to take the notes section off of my daily pages.

I was using the notes section as a bit of a journal, which was convenient.
Except for the part that I was writing all the same stuff in my Hobonichi later in the evening. And, if my notes had nothing to do with a task (which was sometimes the case), they didn't need to be in my planner.

Not that I mind writing things down. That would be silly.
What I did mind was having too much information scattered about. I had notes about why I didn't do a task, or notes about how I wanted to do a task that didn't get done that day, or notes that were like a journal, or non-time-linked tasks.
It was messy. And not necessary.

So, I got rid of that section. I figured a few things:
* Any notes that belonged to a task could just be added in the task list (as the task list would have more space).
* Any tasks that didn't need to be scheduled in (but needed to be written down somewhere) should have a home instead of just writing them in the notes section, hoping I would schedule them in at some point.

Plus, with adding in more room for tasks, I could add task notes (like making an online order) or what I got at stores (like my video game purchases on Saturday) in as a task itself, instead of writing that down in the notes section.

All the information can be kept together. Which is kind of the point of a planner.

And that also means that all the journaling bits can be kept in the journaling books (yes, there's more than one).

But then that leaves the part about needing unscheduled tasks to go somewhere.
So I added a master list page. Instead of having all my ideas floating around in my head or on random sticky notes or what-have-you, they can have a real home.

It's a streamlined version of what I was already doing, with more room for stuff, with room to get more done. And room to write down all my ideas of things to do.
I kind of love it.

Less Notes, More Tasks | Anxiously Being Havok

Seriously. I took out the notes section. That's it. Everything else is the same as my previous daily pages.

And then for the master list, it's the same thing, without the dinner box, and no date.

The benefit is it's no fuss. And it took three seconds to change.
Also, it's called random because it's things as they are thought up, things that may not even need to get done at some point, things that can be done at any time, or just ideas of what to do. "Random" seemed quite fitting.

I color in the flowers on the master to do list after a task is complete, and it is written on the daily pages when it's done (just like every other task).
I'm not so much concerned with tracking on the master list when things get done, just so long as things are getting done!

If you would like to download these pages for yourself, you can do so HERE.
It's a combination file, so one page is the daily page, and the other is the master to do list. Feel free to print one or the other or both!

I've been using these since the 13th, and they're working quite well - I'm not missing the notes section - I use indentations to signify that something that continues on an additional line isn't another task, and that works out great (for me, anyway). And, as there are so many more lines for each day, I'm able to group additional tasks together as the day progresses, which is actually quite handy!
So far as the master lists go, I've got a few of them printed and punched in my planner, and have most of one page filled up with things to do at some point. Lucky for me, I've already finished a few of them! It sort of bothers me that things aren't being colored in (checked off) in order, but I can deal with that.

Though, with the past week being super unproductive, and just taking a look at how my time is being spent...I've got something entirely new coming up! I need to give it a test run first, so I can (hopefully) report success. Either way, be on the lookout for yet even more pages - hopefully this time won't be as horrible as the Wo2P experiment, though!

P.S. As always, these are for personal use. Feel free to edit them if you wish, but do not share them and claim them as entirely your own work. I don't want to look at my name all day when I use these, and I doubt you want to either, so please respect the fact that I'm offering these without any markings.
