By the end of the week, I'm ready to look at something else, but what I end up creating is something...well, something that I enjoy.
I have no style. I have no cohesive "look". It's a smattering of whatever sounds good at the time. Colors that are appealing to me. And it may match in some way or another (because to me, orange and aqua go together perfectly, but not many other people agree).
Beyond that, my pages are perfect.
Well, sort of.
You see, for a while, while collecting supplies, I ended up buying a lot of things that were "popular" - which is not really what I am wanting to use. I have cutesy things. And none of my decorating has really been too cutesy.
It's difficult to decorate when you have Game of Thrones in mind when you have only brightly colored tapes and stickers. Believe you me, I tried though. And I ended up with purple & gold stripes with Skylanders. Not perfect, but workable.
I restarted Skyrim on Tuesday, and have spent way too much time on it this past week. But that momentum will be carrying on to next week. So I drew the dragon, and then tried to decorate.
It didn't go well.
I ended up using the comic book style washi first, then the Hello Kitty washi to match the colors...and then, well, it ended up being more 4th of July themed than dragon-y themed! So I added Skylander dragon-like characters, and called it good.
And while I'm proud of my dragon drawing, I'm not so happy with the lack of, well, better supplies. Because I doubt anyone sells Dragonborn stickers or washi - though, if they do, please let me know!
I would love to find better themed supplies. Stickers of swords or shields, and dragons or fire washi, Batman or Pokemon...the list could go on and on. But I have yet to find any of this stuff - again, if you know where some may be, please let me know!
I've still been trying to work with what I have, however, and using it to suit my desires as best as I can (which is why I succumbed to drawing!). And while I do enjoy what I end up with, it's just not enough.
Let's be honest, the planner sticker world is geared towards the cutesy crowd. I understand that. But, come on, I know there are more geek-minded people out there - y u no maek sticker?!

P.S. Lulz, remember "so i herd u liek Mudkips?"
P.P.S I'm debating tearing apart doubles of Pokemon and Magic cards to tape onto pages. I have a ton of them just hanging around in boxes, and the "notes" section of the Filofax pages are the perfect size for the trading card images...it's an idea I've been haggling with, and it seems kind of awesome. Blasphemy, so far as cutting up the cards goes, but awesome in actually getting to use them!
Not used any of these, but their stickers look like your sort of thing I think!

Thank you so much, oh my goodness - these are awesome! And not gonna lie, those free ones are promising...may require a trip to an office store to get them printed, or edit the files to print in black and white (I mean, uh, I would never do something like that, ha *wink-smiley-face*). Though I do wish it was all more mainstream, and not just stuck on RedBubble - which I do enjoy supporting small artists, I'm not a fan of shipping, lol.
DeleteSorry to double post, but I saw this FF on ebay and thought of you as well...

No problem at all - the Marvel Filofax deserves it's own post indeed. I have seen it floating about before, but have never seen it in anything other than pocket-size. Which, to me, is a bummer. Every time I see it, it stabs me in the heart, because it would be awesome to have, just I have yet to find the right way to use a pocket-size!
DeleteI used to use a pocket FF as a cards/shopping list /financial one, but got tired of carrying around 2 FF, and having two sizes of pages to hole punch and archive. Still have the pocket FF though, just sitting staring and saying you never use me, why am I still here... May have to sort it out as a present for someone, see if I can bring them to the dark side of Filofax!
ReplyDeleteOh, no, there is no "dark side" to the Filofax world, lol. But thank goodness, because if there was some sort of Filofax Sith Lord, things would get weird xD
DeleteI have debated using my pocket for shopping and things, but agree, would be too much to carry around. Yeah, I have to fumble with my FF and my wallet, but the wallet at least just zips up - don't need to worry about putting anything back in properly at checkout!
But I do agree in sharing the FF world with others. I did the same with my mom, in so far as bringing her into this world (though she was in it years ago, with much less gusto), and showing her all the magical things the internet has done for it.
