Thank You, LifeHacker - with an example why

Last Wednesday, I was out and about helping the Mister's uncle with some errands.
It is a half hour drive there, then driving about town to the places he needed to go, plus doing the shopping with him that he needed to do. Then we had places to go during the lunch rush, a last minute place to stop, that I had no clear directions to get to. I was tired, I was sore, I was out of my normal habitat and just...done.

I lost it.
Well, I didn't lose it. More like I lost my composure and had a "moment." Luckily, where were headed was right around the block, and I was able to have a few moments while he was getting a few things from the store.

I feel bad about it, I really do.
Because there is no showing signs, really, before I've had enough, to suggest that things are too much. Because it was nobody's fault, but it's easy (when yelling about in the car) to make it sound like it's somebody's fault. Because I don't like being that way, and it's never been helpful in any way.

I've found this article and it's perfect (thank you, LifeHacker). It makes sense. It's easy to understand (and I had a giggle at the "Scream. Cry. Make that awful noise that’s somewhere between the two" bit - because it's spot on.
Realistically, taking a moment to breath doesn't always cut it. Sometimes, being able to talk it out isn't possible. Often, it becomes a matter of damage control versus prevention.

And that's okay.

P.S. I realize that article is a bit of a longer read, but it is entirely worth it. The best articles on anxiety that I've read have been from that writer on LifeHacker, and this one is no different in quality (probably better, really).

  1. As you said: it's okay! We're only humans! Who cares! At least you're not a murderer! (and so on).
Being kind is all that matters in my opinion. The rest are details :)

    1. Not a murderer, no, thank goodness - ha!
Sometimes, though, the details are important so far as making it through each day, but I entirely understand (and appreciate) what you're saying. It's just hard a lot of the time to have that viewpoint.
Thanks so much for stopping by! :)
