Yesterday, I asked the Mister what he wanted for Thanksgiving.
His response?
"To not have to go anywhere or see anyone."
"Well, Mister," I thought, "you'll be happy to know that was already on the menu." Which he was a fan of once I told him that.
Of course, I proceeded to ask him what he actually wanted to eat, and I got no concrete answer (so I kindly suggested we can have just stuffing for dinner, as I had bought some last week since it was on sale. While he wasn't fond of the idea, he said "sure" and went back to playing Fallout 4).
But, this means something awesome.
Thanksgiving 2015 will be fantastic.
Because we aren't going to be doing anything fancy, and we can just...it'll be a normal day. He may have to work in the morning, hopefully won't have to be out any later than noon (I can hope, right?) and that nothing will page out later in the day (looking at you, fancy clothes store that has a three hour window for any call they page out), and we can be in pajamas and just have snacks all evening.
That really would be best.
It's our style, it's our way of things.
I'm thinking spinach dip and Ritz crackers, and pie (I already bought Cool Whip!), and potato chips, and pepperoni and cheese, and maybe some Triscuits.
Yes. So much yes. It will be amazing.
So, that's sorted. What a load off my mind.
Also, delicious.

oh my gosh, what a wonderful relaxing holiday! I bet a lot of people will be very envious. I would have gone one step further and just done takeout. But it is a fun time to try some new recipes if you feel like trying something new (or an old favourite)!
ReplyDeleteOh the desire to order pizza will be strong, but the pizza delivery people deserve to not have to work just as much as everybody else does, or else that would have been on the menu as well!
DeleteMy original we-are-staying-home plan was to make an actual Thanksgiving spread, but small sized, and it just sounds like a lot of work!
Thank you so much for stopping by! :D
I envy the simplicity of that!! I really love our little family traditions, but if we could miss some of the drama of that day...I wouldn't be heartbroken. ;)
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean! While I would love to have turkey (and then turkey sandwiches for days!), it's really just not worth it for us this year.
DeletePlus it helps that for me and the Mister, we don't really have any traditions beyond the idea of Thanksgiving. So nobody's expectations have been set as anything beyond probably being busy (which we have loaded off this year). :)
Thanks so much for stopping by! :)
