Super-Pre-Holiday Plans Are Best

Woo, Halloween has past - that means the real Holidays are soon!
...and by "real" Holidays, I mean Thanksgiving and Christmas. Yes, Halloween is a holiday, but it just hasn't been as fun since I've become an adult. It's a great excuse to have candy in the house (though, living in an apartment complex, we don't actually get any trick-or-treaters) and to remember that I can, at any moment, be either Darth Vader or Batman with things I have in my closet.

But, back to the "real" Holidays.

First, Thanksgiving.
Oh boy.
You see, I get to have my own Thanksgiving this year. I've never done that before. So it will be new and exciting! Possibly, anyway. I'm not yet sure what to make, but whatever it ends up being won't be a lot - as there are only two of us, and there are only so many days that leftovers are good for!

The advantage of having Thanksgiving on our own this year, though, is not having to schedule with other people - and reminding everyone that we cannot know where we can be until the day of (which is something I want to discuss with you all, but requires a post of it's own). Also not having to worry about what I should be bringing and what everyone else would want, as well as dealing with whether the dogs have to stay home or not, and then dealing with traffic...basically, it's going to be awesome.

Then second, there's Christmas.
Some plans are already made - like Christmas with my side of the family. Some plans - like Christmas with the Mister's side of the family - have not been made.
That's alright. Because half is better than nothing!

I've taken a small detour from working on Christmas knitting, but a break is alright, I still have plenty of time. The Mister suggested I call it as it stands right now, and just get everyone that is left gift cards and tell them to go learn to knit and make themselves hats (which, I will admit, sounds like a great plan, but probably wouldn't work as well as one would hope!). I am not worried about it. Or, at least I keep telling myself that!

And I've done up Christmas cards! They are simple, but I stamped and colored them, so that counts well beyond what I've done the past few years (which is nothing).
The advantage of them being done now is that I can take the month to fill them in and address them, send them out on the first of December (or there abouts) and then hope I get just as many cards back in the mail (from guilt Christmas card sending, you see *she says slyly* *winkyface*).

I am, oddly, looking forward to the Holidays this year.
They will hopefully be easier than years past. Hopefully happier and more cheer-full.

That's the point isn't it?
Grabbed this from  Facebook in the Mrs Brimbles Happy Place Facebook group, but it is a closed group (but the post can be found here, if you are in the group (which you should be - request to join!)) and the image itself is from DisneyScreenCaps.com - however, I saw it all over Twitter over the weekend (as well as Instagram). If you happen to know where it originated from, please let me know!

  1. It does feel better to know what the plans are...even if only half! Nice work getting started on your preparations.

    1. Thank you! It is quite a load off, even if it isn't everything just yet. I much prefer being ahead, as I'm flown by the seat of my pants far too many years, and always scrambled last minute to find time and things and it's just not worth it! The season should be cheery and not spent worrying about things that can be sorted ahead of time!
      Thanks for stopping by! :D
