Simple Goals - A Start

So many people, so many goals.
And I'm over here like "hey, that's cool, I'm going to watch something funny and make a mess with paint" - you know, as you do.

But I have been thinking. I do have some goals, but they are more...easy and fun.
Yes, things I need and should be doing. But also not anything horribly crazy. Certainly nothing to stress over, and certainly nothing to need to plot and plan for.
Easy things. Things I can actually do, no matter what, and therefore not feel bad about "failing."
  • Clean out the fridge
  • Knit on new shawl, and only watch Dragon Ball Z Kai while knitting (don't worry, I'm only on episode 30 of like 100)
  • Make more arts, even if it's just coloring things from the Internet
  • Take naps when necessary
  • Don't screw up my knee anymore than it already is
  • Have pancakes for breakfast today (I'll let you know how that turns out!)
  • Take more showers
  • Drink more tea
  • Maybe send some birthday cards to people this year
  • Eventually, finish a pair of knitted socks
  • Play some video games and get all the gym badges in Pokemon Alpha Sapphire
  • Do the dishes in smaller chunks so I don't have to stand at the sink forever (at least it seems to be forever, if I don't do them for a day or two...or three or four)
  • Make some collage-y things and get out of my comfort zone
  • Do some serious decluttering (but, you know, in small chunks, not everything at once)
Easy things. Things that are always on the list of "to-do's" that I'm never getting to. Except now, well, I kind of want to, versus just thinking that I should.
Monday, I did a ton of cleaning, and knitted a ton. It felt great. Apparently I did too much Monday though, because yesterday, I was hurtin'. So I only did a little bit of cleaning after sleeping in super late, no knitting, but plenty of arting. And then took a nap, because I needed it. And I didn't feel bad.

Thing is, I'm starting to get to the right place. And by that, I mean I'm aware that, hey, each day is it's own thing, and each day will have things that I can or cannot do. Tuesday was lacking in awesome, but today is another day, and we'll see how it works out. Hopefully I can get to the fridge cleaning. Also, pancakes.

P.S. The only reason for pancakes is because the Mister is on vacation. Monday, I tried to convince him to cook dinner, but he would not. I then suggested he could cook pancakes (I don't remember where that idea came from, but oh well), and then he said maybe a different day, in the morning. Then I said how about Wednesday, because he will be on vacation by then. So, he said yes, and now he has to cook breakfast. Except, you know, I'm pretty sure he's forgotten!

  1. Hope you got your pancakes! And that the weather is treating you better. Taking each day as it comes is a good philosophy - the day of busyness followed by a day of can't do much at all is hard to get used to though isn't it! Writing a list in the evening of what you did that day I find helps, as when you feel awful later on in the week you can read it back and remember that you have earned the right to a day in bed or on the sofa...

    1. I did indeed get pancakes! The Mister went out and got us coffee, and he came back and I had to mix up the pancake batter, but he cooked them! :D
It is very hard to get used to, so far as one day is awesome and the next is bleh. But, it's okay, because it really is one day as it comes, and just going with what it offers.
I actually managed to not plan my week out for this week, so have just been keeping track of what I have done, and my days are filling up that way, so it's pretty nice! It's not perfect, but a good way to see that my days aren't just nothing...which was also something that has been bugging me!
Thanks so much for stopping by! :D

  2. I really need to clean out my fridge...and my cabinets...and I would love to do more crafts! I think that I was thrown off by everyone being sick the past week and a half, and now I feel so behind even though it is only January 7th! I usually use the time between Christmas and New Years to sit and reflect on life and really plan out what I want to do in the New Year, but as of yet that hasn't happened. My very short term goal is to get all of that thinking out of my brain in the next couple of days so that I can start fresh on Monday - there is something about Mondays and starting fresh that works for me :-)

    1. I'm lucky that our cabinets don't need going through, ha! I dreaded that task so much in our old apartment, I only did it twice - once a few years back, and then when we were moving - threw out everything we did not use!
Being sick certainly can put a damper on things, something I am familiar with. The brain fog from any kind of running-at-lower-capacity can throw a wrench into any plans, no matter how ingrained and important said plans are!
I agree wholheartedly about the Monday start thing! I was used to Sunday start calendars, though, so never really felt the magic of the Monday start till I seriously got interested in planners (though I have always had an interest in them, I never really looked into it, ha) and now alllll the calendars start on Monday. Just makes much more sense!
Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you are able to find the time soon to sit down and sort things out! And wishing you the best in the quest to find time for more crafts! :D
