I knew it was getting to be the end of the month, getting to be time for this to go up...and then totally forgot the detaily bits that said that I was going to post them on the last Friday of the month*, not just at the end of the month. So, my apologies for it's lateness.
Then again, you may not even remember the promise of doing this post...and if that's the case, well, no harm done.
Either way, the cards that got given this month!
Well, except one. I forgot to take a picture of it, and did not realize until I went to go send it. Which got sent to my mom for Valentine's Day (because doesn't everyone send their mom Valentine's Day cards? No? Well, oh well).
First, a birthday card.
The stamp set is adorable little monsters, and I love them so much. Well, the balloons belong to another set, but that's not the point.
Also, watercolor backgrounds are so much fun guys. You should try it.
Second, a Valentine's Day card for the Mister...that I forgot to give him until a couple of days ago.
No, no shames on me. I had an actual gift for him, which we will get to in a minute. But, the card that got forgotten about, first.
Again, watercolor backgrounds. Try it sometime, I promise it's fun!
So, for Valentine's Day, I found a plethora of printables online that were just too cute, but one stood out tremendously. Probably because it entailed the gift to go along with said card was to be a Hot Wheels car (or similar) of some sort.
I was sold.
I went to the store, went to the Hot Wheels section, found an awesome tank immediately and was ready to leave - one can never find a cool Hot Wheels car that fast, I promise, so it was quite the accomplishment. Until I went to actually leave the toy section and saw a cardboard stand up of none other than Super Mario themed Hot Wheels cars (which, by happenstance, I had seen on Instagram a day or two before). I couldn't pass that up.
The printable I used is from Life Anchored, and while it's a bit late for Valentine's Day, you could technically just cut off the "Valentine" part and use it for any Hot Wheels gift...because they make the best 1$ presents.
Seeing as our printer is only black and white, I had to paint it in (or color it in in some way, but paints are more fun).
And the car itself is quite amazing. Not only is it Mario themed, but it has Yoshi as well, and it's a VW bus. Which we are quite fond of. While it cost more than the standard Hot Wheels, I could not pass it up.
Ya. Can't go wrong, guys.
And, with that, it made forgetting about the actual card that I made him until far too late to be an acceptable thing. Well, as acceptable as forgetting can be!
Also, today is Leap Day!
We require 24 hour days to make our clocks and everything make sense. But an actual day is just shy of that (23 hours, 56 minutes, and 4.1 seconds - something I've somehow managed to remember from elementary school!), so we end up with an excess of time...and they decided to just throw the day in at the end of February to sort of cancel it out. Personally, I think it'd be way cooler if we went down to 23 hour days, and then had extra time every month and everyone just got to have time off and relax. But I assume that's far too complicated.
Either way, it is actually four years ago to the day (last Leap Day!) that the Mister and I started talking (the advantage of meeting someone online, you can talk to them before you meet them, and it also can create an easier way to remember when it happened). He, of course, does not believe me, but I have all of my older cellphones and the one I was using at the time still has a photo of his dog that he sent me that evening...and it was sent on, obviously, February 29th.
That's kinda cool, right?
Next month's post will be lean - there's only one birthday, and I'm not doing St. Patrick's Day cards. Because that'd be weird.

* I see, in the first post, that I actually did not say that these were going to go up on the last Friday, but that was my intention all the time. So, in this realm of reality, I'm not actually late!
I love these cards! They're really fun and creative! Don't forget next month is Easter too so I bet you could design some adorable chicky and bubbie cards. Do you sell them on etsy or is it just for fun?
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! :D
DeleteI totally forgot about Easter! We don't really do anything for it, but any excuse to play with cute stamps is good to me ;)
I just make these for friends and family. I've debated putting a few up on Etsy, but I don't think they'd do very well, ha. Plus the watercolor tends to bend the cardstock quite a lot (because while it is thick, it's not quite sturdy enough) so I wouldn't feel comfortable trying to sell something not in a great condition...but to send to people I know, it's fine, ha!
Thank you so much for stopping by! :D
I love home made cards! I hate spending money on store bought cards, especially when most of them end up in the garbage :(
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly why I don't buy store bought cards. I admit, I'm a terrible card-keeper myself. I've been better the past few years, because I actually figured a good way to keep them/store them, but so many years of cards that, well, I just don't have. However, I know that, at least, my mom will keep the cards I make her ;)
DeleteThank you so much for stopping by! :)
think of it this way= by spacing out the card and the gift, you got to extend all the valentine's day good vibes! Great cards, and what a sweet little V day gift. Love it.
ReplyDeleteI like this idea! ;) I'm not sure how many good vibes were attached, lol, considering it was forgotten, but I'll take any good spin on it I can get!
DeleteAnd thank you so very much! And, of course, thank you so very much for stopping by :)
