The Importance of Your Jam

Not the kind you put on bread (though equally important, of course). But the musical variety. Which would not, sadly, be good on bread. But it is good for many things.
And when I say "jam" I mean collective of songs that are you. Not just one song. You should have multiple jams...playlists of them...as many as you can possibly manage. But we'll get to that bit in a minute.

First, the importance of said jam(s).
They're awesome.
'nuff said.

The Importance of Your Jam | Anxiously Being Havok

Okay, while it is that easy, let me elucidate.
You may or may not already possess a song (or songs) that just fill you with joy. It's the perfect thing to get you in a good mood, even if you're in a bleh kind of state. It's the best thing to give you energy and it can make whatever task is at hand seem much less ew.
These songs are the kind of thing you could use as an alarm and not dread it in the morning, something to make being stuck in traffic much less horrendous, and something that you can turn up super loud and be happy and relax to.
Those kinds of songs. Collect them. It's necessary.

Secondly, the aforementioned collection.
Do this in whatever way suits you best. If you can get it on your car's stereo, awesome. Get it on your computer, awesome. On your phone, great. An MP3 player of some kind, fantastic. On a flashdrive to go from computer to computer, cool. On a CD...well, that's a little more difficult, since it's harder to add to, but it would still work! You could even rely on YouTube, even, since that's available on desktop and mobile! Whatever way works best for you and your needs, and your ability to use said system. I keep music files on both my Windows OS and Debian OS, so that I can have access to them no matter which part of my computer I'm in.
And, depending on how you are listening to your music, some way to make a collection. Or, a playlist. Call it what you want. I use Rhythmbox on Debian, and try and use Windows Media Player, in it's sad old way on my Windows OS. If you're into iTunes, there you go. If you have some other fancy software, use that (and of course share suggestions in the comments!).
It should be easy to access and easy to turn on and go. If you need headphones, keep a pair handy (I used to have a dedicated pair of headphones in my purse before I had a driver's license, so I could always listen to music while walking wherever I needed to go).
Make it as easy as you can for yourself - you're more likely to use a system if it's simple, right?

Third, the usage of said collection of jams.
The answer to that is, in anyway in which you see fit.
I already mentioned being in traffic or relaxing or getting through ick tasks.
And those are kind of the best ways.

Lately, as I mentioned Wednesday, I've been doing a lot of computer-y tasks. And a lot of, well, mental heavy-lifting, you could say. Nothing terribly difficult, but definitely more than, say, reading Facebook.
And it's also things that can take their toll after a while - after spending half an hour, I can feel just spent and am not wanting to do any more of it
Except, with said jams, the time passes and all of a sudden my mega-super-awesome-pump-it-up playlist that is 5 songs long is done and I'm still truckin' along. It's like a magical elixir of energy that doesn't drain out. Multiple days I've actually went above and beyond what I would consider to be "enough" for each day, simply because I've managed to fill up that energy of get-on-it-ness with the help of good 'tunes.

Now, I dunno what you have going on in your life, whether you need a pick-me-up or not. But I'm going to go ahead and bet that most people could use such a thing on a decently regular basis.
And this is a super great way to go about it. It doesn't take any extra time, it doesn't take any extra resources. It doesn't require you to stop doing anything, or add a complicated routine into your day. Just a matter of hitting play on whatever it is you're using to play music, and go about your business. What could be easier?

Now, you may have caught that I mentioned my playlist of awesomeness is 5 songs. It was five songs earlier this week. Now, it's 8. I go back and forth between just going through my library and actually using the playlist.
But those 8 songs? Amazing. If you're into something new, I would (of course) suggest giving it a try. I know it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea, but you never know! I made a playlist on YouTube, just in case. It's the kind of thing that I just want on loop for every activity ever.

And that's why you should have some jams.
Because "every activity ever" won't seem so horrible.

And, a quote for you (because this is fun, right?): "Waists are over-rated. My waist was a taskmaser. This new shape means muffins are delicious." via @schmutzie

P.S. The use of "elucidate" is only possible thanks to Alice in Wonderland. #SorryNotSorry

P.P.S. Also, if you need to get some added energy in your day...I highly suggest the Darth Maul theme (which is actually called "Duel of the Fates") and the Skyrim theme (which is actually called "Dragonborn") and slightly less so, but still good, the Elder Scrolls Online theme (which is actually called "For Blood, For Glory, For Honor"). Even if you're not a fan of those things, I highly recommend them.

    1. Yay auto correct, ha!
The Darth Maul theme is amazing, and I really wish he would have gotten more screen time! I've heard that he comes back in one of the animated series, but haven't watched any of it. It's in my top villain song lists (accompanied by Darth Vader, Scar from Lion king, and Ursula from Little Mermaid ;) ).
Thanks so much for stopping by! :D
