And by "ALL" I mean, well, all. As much as you can manage. Get it out of your head and onto paper.

This is my journal, and my goal is to write it in everyday. I've missed a few here and there, but for the most part, since I got it (which was in the middle of August), I've filled out a page every day.
I specifically bought this notebook (a hardcover Moleskine in the large size) because of the grid paper. Lined paper is nice, but as I had recently learned about the Hobonichi notebooks (which has lovely grid paper) and desperately wanted one, this was going to be a close second (for the time being).
Plus, it helps lining up my tapes and stickers! I do not have the ability to make things even or straight, and even with the grid I still can barely get a strip of washi tape straight!
My collection of pens, washi tapes, and stickers are all kept together. I have a small yet almost overwhelming collection so far. It's fun to go through everyday and pick which stickers I want to use, and which colored tapes fit the day the best. Sometimes I color-coordinate, but most of the time the decision is based on what I'm drawn to most that day.
The main goal, however, is to write out the day. What I did, what I should have done; where I went or what I found; how I felt and what I could do better. Planning my time is a lovely thing, but having a recap of that time is also important for me. It allows me time to go over the day in a low-key setting, and go over my activities (or lack thereof).
I have never been so diligent before about writing every day, but with trying to get myself moving forward, being diligent is important. My Mister thinks it is silly, and he feels left out - that I'm writing in something but not telling him about it. So, I just tell him it's what happened during the day, that's all. And that really is it.
Of course, there are thoughts and feelings that I try to "talk out" with myself, but that has always been my process. It's easier for me to get how I'm feeling into a concrete idea when I've had time to go over whatever has happened - sort of talking through it all with myself. Journaling is amazing thing, because it allows you to do that in a safe environment.
For me, journal and planner need to be separate.
Some people are alright with just doing a quick recap in their planners, or having diary pages in them. For me, that's not going to work. My planner is to schedule myself. My journal is to relax after getting everything done. Yeah, it's more notebooks to have about and faff with, but it makes the most sense to me.
Do you keep a journal? How do you decorate yours? I'd love to hear about it!
