It's Tricky, Being Us
We found the perfect house to move to.
Yeah, it was a house.
For rent, but a house all the same.
The house itself is just over 1000 square feet. While it wasn't completely carpet-less, most of the rooms were not carpet. The rent was just under 1000$ a month.
It has enough bedrooms that we could have a bedroom and a computer room - without having to keep everything in the living room. The yard is big enough for the dogs to have free reign.
It is exactly what we are after.
Except it is well over an hour away.
Far too far for where we can live for the Mister's job (his job allows us to live just about anywhere in the Portland-metro area, without the worry of commute, but not past that).
We were so disheartened once we realized that the place was where it was.
And that is where we are at. What we want, we cannot have. Where we want, we cannot find. And how much we want to spend just isn't enough.
Sounds like an awesome situation, right?
Right.
I'm sure there is something for us, but I do hope we find it quick. In the next week, we will have to fork over just under 1000$ to live where we do. Which is crazy. And while wherever we do end up will cost us more than that, we will at least not be miserable - as we are where we are now.
While I wish there was more going on in my life right now, we are pretty much overwhelmed by this. And we are trying to spend our "free time" doing anything we can to not think about it (of course, all the while, taking some time each day to look for something).
I've thought of this a lot lately, that we are not doing anything constructive, other than running ourselves ragged looking for a new home.
But at the same time, that is our life right now. I would love to be crocheting something, but the only thing I could justify right now (to as not create a larger mess for myself) would be wash rags to use to clean up the house - which is quite depressing! I would love to be pulling out stickers and scrapbook paper to play with and "scrap" into my Chic Sparrow Midori journal, but, again, don't want to create large messes - and as I'm a pile-er, messes would be made!
So instead, I will content myself with writing, playing Minecraft, and watching Pokemon (and playing some, too). And I will be making lists of all the fantastic things I can do when we are finally moved. All of which involve creating fantastic messes - its amazing how much more you want to "play" with things once they are all in boxes!

P.S. The apartment inspections I told you about last Wednesday? We found out Thursday afternoon that they were rescheduled. For this Wednesday and Thursday, and possibly Friday if they have to. And, to make it even better, when calling the management to see if it was a continuation or last week's was cancelled, the lady was frustrated that she had to print up the 24-hour notices twice. Because it is so inconvenient to do that - while we have to worry about people being in our homes snooping about for (up to) three more days than we were already worried about.
End rant.
This is why we want out (along with many other things).
