Tuesday was supposed to be an easy day.
All I had to do was clean up the kitchen a bit, fold a load of laundry, and try not to nap in the afternoon (sleep has been weird lately, with too many naps).
Except that didn't quite turn out right.
You see, the Mister got to work from home today. But, about noon or so, he had to head out to find parts for something. Which is lucky, because that is the only way we would have found the 24-hour notice of inspection for our apartment that got left on our door last night.
Which, in turn, is scheduled for the next three days (20th through the 22nd).
Now, I don't know much about rental laws and such, but having a 24-hour notice window for a 3-day show-up window seems a bit outrageous to me - but that is not the point of this post.
The point is that starting to pack and clean up the place for the move was super helpful.
The bathroom had already been deeply scrubbed.
The kitchen had already been started on (and thank goodness I had already done dishes and the stove before we found the note!).
The vacuuming sucked (lulz for days, guys), but we have a cute little vacuum now that does a fantastic job.
I even managed to superglue the bathroom towel rack back to the wall (which was my idea for what to do before we left...just works out that it's done early!).
And then I promptly was wore out.
But, it's done. Or, as good as it can be done for the time being. And yes, there is a rather large pile of packed boxes in the bedroom, and our living room is looking rather bare, but that's okay. That's where we are.
For which I am quite thankful.
If I had not already started on the bathroom (and had it mostly done), the day would have been much more stressful.
If we had not already started packing the living room, there would have been a lot more to clean up (we are piling kind of people!).
If I had not already started scrubbing the kitchen, I would probably have been cleaning well into the evening.
Is the place perfect? No.
Do the carpets need a good go-over? Yes - but there isn't much more that can be done for them, and cleaning the carpets tends to bring up any smells in them anyway (yay, dog life), so best not do it with such limited notice.
Should I dust? Oh, probably, but I am not that picky!

P.S. On the bright side, our notice says it is a "due diligence - lender inspection" sort of visit, as a new management company bought the property recently...so I'm hoping it's just the sort of visit that involves seeing how much square footage the place has, what appliances we have, number of bedrooms, etc. Hopefully will have a good report for you next week - as I have that long to find out for sure.
P.P.S. I really am not happy about this 3-day window of them showing up business. Good thing I already got my grocery shopping done for the week, because I cannot leave the pups here in the off chance they show up while I am out, and for some reason they decide our dogs are "vicious" for barking at strange people in their home! Our dogs aren't vicious, but they can get pretty rowdy and growly when threatened!
