Giant Star Blanket

And by giant I mean giant. I used it both Saturday and Sunday evenings - it's more than big enough!
While the work that was left to do on it since the last time I touched it wasn't much, it certainly seemed that each row was taking ages, and I should have already made it around, I missed the beginning of the last row and will have to pull out a bunch...only to find out I was three star-points away from the beginning part!

I can guarantee I will be making another blanket in this pattern - though maybe not for a while!

I tried to get the dogs to cooperate and sit together on it - to show size (sort of). It worked...kind of.
The size is...human-burrito sized. I'm 5'4" tall, and it covers feet to almost-shoulders.

Cooperation was somehow managed, and they are adorable, yes?
I try and get pictures of them when they are actually laying and/or sitting on each other, but they always move - so these are probably the best pictures we have of them in the same shot!

And, of course, gratuitous color shot.

It's very heavy, this blanket. It's all cotton, and somehow cotton weighs about ten times as much as acrylic yarn. The only reason I have been able to use it these past few days is because we have a great little air conditioner unit, but even still I'm only able to be under it for about half an hour at a time! Because it's got it's own ecosystem of temperature. It will become very, very handy once the weather chills later in the year!

  1. Absolutely gorgeous! Love the colours and shape (and the dogs are pretty cute as well...). I can appreciate the amount of work that has gone into this - I have just started a hat for my daughter and my hands were tired after only having done the round for the top of the head. I remember the post from when you started this - have you been working on it in bursts or doing a steady bit each night?

    1. Thank you so very much!
I had been working on it in bursts, only to have put it away fro quite some time. Finally got it out again over the weekend to finish it up. Normally how larger projects work for me, if they cannot be finished in about a month's time. Luckily I had already gotten far enough ahead with it when it got started, that picking it up to finish was rather quick!
I, too, have found that crochet can be painful, especially if picking it up again after not doing it for a while.

  2. This blanket is absolutely gorgeous! Its star shape is very beautiful and these bright colors make it look so fresh. Your puppies are so cute and as seen they love the blanket too.

    1. Thank you very much, on all counts! I believe the pups would love the blanket more than I do, but I have to say I have been trying to keep it to myself for now, ha!

  3. Love it, love the colours, love the shape, it almost looks like one giant rainbow crocheted spiders web.

    1. Thank you so much! The shape was fantastic to work on - came together quickly without getting too boring, ha!
While I don't like the idea (not a fan of spiders!!) I entirely can see where that sentiment comes from, and it *does* look like that quite a bit, ha!
Thank you so much for stopping by! :D
