Oh, Time Management skills, where have you gone?
At one point in time, I was really good with this.
As of late? Well, let's just say I've been relying on hunger to remind me that "oh yeah, I guess it's time to eat" because it just doesn't cross my mind.
Instead, I have been productive in more...relaxed ways. I'm spending a lot of time making things (and, luckily, cleaning up after my making, but only because I need the desk space for the next makings) and not a lot of time on much of anything else.
Which, you know, is cool and all, but I haven't even opened up my planner today because I know it says "Catch up on everything" and I just don't want to.
And that's where my time management went.
To the "I-Don't-Wanna's." Which, while it sounds like a cool band name, doesn't really do a whole lot for you in real life.
I know that doing the chores isn't a lot of time, and it's not a lot of work over all (if, you know, it's kept up on), but it's not...you see, it falls into the "I-Don't-Wanna" category.
Except, you know, most people just say that they don't want to, and then do it shortly after. Because they know they have to.
I know I have to as well. Except, you know, I also know how long I can go without doing things - because I've done that before, and "caught up" before and everything was alright in the end.
Right now even, I should be doing the dishes and running the dishwasher, getting a load of laundry together (to run after the dishwasher, of course) and vacuuming.
Instead, I'm here writing this, and watching an arty-type YouTube video on a project I will probably never do but am interested in. Earlier today I was working on the start of a project for December (which I will be going into with you next week, because this one I will be doing). Later today, I will probably be playing Fallout 4 and trying not to die (I need to do some grinding, but haven't figured out where to do that yet, sadly, so will probably be just wandering collecting supplies).
But, as I write that out, I realize these tasks aren't going to be taking up a whole day.
Except they normally do. YouTube videos lead to more videos, then lead to not finding more and having to refresh the home page to get more suggestions...then watching more...and more...and then just one more.
And that, really, just sums up the Internet - which is a subject for another day.
It's a matter of it could take up the whole day, and I'm letting it. Instead of saying one video (or two or three, because some people only make short videos) and go do something that's actually productive. Like the dishes. Then come back and watch another video, and then vacuum.
But, the "I-Don't-Wanna's" and now I'm here.
I should probably just go stare at the kitchen till I'm angry at it - then I'll have to do the dishes.
