Prompts and Inspirations and Lists [or, thank you, Universe, for being awesome]

Sometimes, the Universe aligns itself in one's favor for no apparent reason.
Lucky for me, that has happened!

On Monday I shared about doing a December Daily art journal project.
Tuesday, Anna (of Mrs Brimbles fame) posted her December Instagram photo challenge. If you're familiar with Instagram photo challenges, there is a prompt for each day that you take a photo of and then hashtag in the appropriate manner (and, Anna's has a giveaway involved if you complete the challenge, so be sure to check it out!).

And I had an awesome "ah-ha!" moment - prompts! This would have been followed by a forehead smacking motion, but it was too early - the "duh!" moment came much later for it to be a reasonable reaction.
But the concept is still there, and I was pleased as punch.

For someone, like myself, who doesn't actually do anything Christmas-y throughout the month, this whole December Daily project thing would be quite complicated. Granted, I was up for the challenge, but I did see myself at least falling behind, if not leaving it incomplete, because I had run out of things to do with it - there are only so many ornaments to draw!
But, prompt lists, like the one Anna has created, could be super helpful. Super duper helpful, even.

Of course, it won't be a matter of following the prompts each day, but using them as a jumping point. And if that means that a prompt intended for the 15th sounds like a fun thing to use for the 2nd, that's awesome. A list of things to gather from. If some go unused, that's fine. If some sound fun enough to do twice, who needs to know?!

Then I had the even better idea to find more December prompt lists, and just compile one giant list. Because more options, in this kind of situation, is normally better than fewer. Plus, no excuses for saying "I don't know what to dooooo" - because there's a list of things gathered in one place to choose from, that aren't going to be too terribly difficult to pull off.

So, one quick Google search later, I found a few more photo challenges to add to the giant list.
One, a list of photos to take, for scrapbookers. While I'm not worrying about photos, would be at most a reminder to take some photos in the first place! And, maybe some things to doodle, even!
Two, two photo challenges from Fat Mum Slim (who has a jillion photo challenges, by the way!), one from 2012 and one from 2013.
And that was literally within the first few Google results I got. There's bound to be a ton more if you were needing even more inspiration!

While this, of course, does not ensure success, it's certainly a good way increase your chances! I've made a list of some of my favorite prompts and the document can be found here (and, of course, all prompts belong to their respective owners!).
What is something you would want to ensure you recorded in a December journal?

P.S. And then of course, the idea of actually making said list of prompts, then sticking it in the journal itself as an endy-bit. Because, you know, why not?

  1. how fun, a December photo challenge! I find it hard to do 30 challenges (of any kind, really), but I do cohost an instagram challenge in the fall with Miso Craft Knits, and it was really fun. Looks like you are finding lots of great prompts for a really inspiring December!

    1. Your guys' photo challenge was super fun - especially since it wasn't a whole month long, no fun-momentum was lost! :D
While I would love to end up with a whole month of photos for the December Daily project, I'll settle for just something done be it a scribbled drawing, a stuck in image, or who-knows-what-else for the days leading to Christmas, ha! Setting the bar low, to possibly exceed expectations - my kind of project! xD
Thanks so much for stopping by! :D
